Giles Matthey has nabbed a recurring role on season five of True Blood.

The actor – whose limited resume includes a stint on an episode of The Good Wife last year – will appear on multiple episodes as Claude, a British fairy described in the Sookie Stackhouse novels as “the nephew of Sookie’s half-human/half-fairy grandfather, Fintan, and cousin to Sookie’s father.”

Claude is a gay character who – according to the books, again – is a strip club owner that formerly took his clothes off for a living.

True Blood returns this summer with new episodes, though HBO is yet to announce a premiere date.

Anna Paquin has been receiving terrific reviews for her work in Margaret, the film she worked on way back in 2005 that was finally released in 2011. Anna recently tied with Meryl Streep for Actress of the Year at the London Film Critics Circle awards. Anna‘s work in the film Margaret earned her this recognition alongside Meryl. Congratulations, Anna!

Margaret was filmed in 2005 and also stars Matt Damon and Mark Ruffalo.

Anna Paquin shared the Best Actress prize with Meryl Streep for her work in Margaret at the London Film Critics Awards. The Best Actress tie is a first in the London Critics Awards’ twenty-year history. Also nominated were Tilda Swinton, Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams.

The London Film Critics’ Circle Awards 2012  was held at the BFI Southbank on thursday 19th in London.

Get your fangs back out, Christopher Heyerdahl. You’ll need them this this summer.

The actor – most recently seen on Hell on Wheels as The Swede, but also known to many for his role as Marcus from The Twilight Saga – will recur on season five of True Blood as an ancient vampire named Dieter Braun.

According to Deadline, the character is connected to the Authority and has a fondness for enhanced interrogation.

Christopher Meloni of course, has been named a series regular on the HBO smash and many believe that long-time SVU star will be portraying the Authority himself.

For their 63rd issue, SciFiNow magazine caught up with Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgard and Deborah Ann Woll for a chat about what’s to come in True Blood.  Unfortunately though, since this is a British magazine, they are discussing season four, which is yet to air here (5th of February on FX, UK Trubies!). 

On Sookie and Bill’s break-up, Anna says:

“We don’t really have everything be perfect or happy for long.  It’s not interesting television if everything works out for Bill and Sookie, and then they adopt five babies and live happily ever after.”

Stephen speaks of his joy that Bill finally got to make a joke:

“I was very pleased in episode five in season four, where Pam comes on with a huge hat and Bill says, ‘Oh good, the world needs more beekeepers’.  When you get those lines, you’re like ‘Yes!’”

Alex responds to the question of what his favourite experience in the show has been:

“It’s childish, but it was fun flying, I liked that.  I want to do more of that.  And the flashbacks have been fun.  I mean, there are so many amazing moments on the show, but I loved shooting the stuff in Swedish – the flashbacks and the Viking stuff was great.”

Deborah Ann tells the story of when her grandmother watched True Blood:

“My mother tried to show my grandmother some scenes from an episode where Hoyt and I lose our virginity with each other, and I was like ‘Why am I watching this with my grandmother?!’  She actually said ‘Someday you’ll be in something I’ll be proud to watch’”.

NATALIE: Considering that Sookie swore off both Bill and Eric in the season finale, it’ll be a while before we see any movement on that front. “The feelings are still there for both Eric and Bill,” Alexander Skarsgard tells us. “The attraction is still there, but they’re preoccupied, and so is she.” Instead, look for Bill and Eric to team up while the vampire world begins to both expand and collapse in the coming season. “The guys have usually tried to kill each other and now suddenly have to learn to become friends and protect each other and work together.”

Considering the loony, zany personality of Debbie Pelt, it’s hard not to imagine what the two people who spawned the late ex-girlfriend of Alcide on True Blood are like.

Well… fans won’t need to imagine on season five. We’ll be meeting Debbie’s parents.

HBO has sent out casting notices for Barbara and Gordon Pelt, both of whom are in their 50s and both of whom will first appear on episode three this summer.

Barbara is described as “kindly” and “well-dressed,” while her husband is the same… but he’ll also grow angry with Alcide when he speaks ill of their daughter, who they believe is simply missing.

In other, major True Blood casting news, Christopher Meloni has been confirmed as a season five regular. No word yet on when new episodes will premiere.

The magazine recently picked the 29-year-old True Blood actress’ film Margaret as the best film of the year.

The film was shot in 2005, but was not released until September of this year and Anna received a whopping 95% of the critics’ vote for best female performance of the year!

“I love this movie,” the director of the film Kenneth Lonergan said of the film. “I have never worked harder or longer on anything in my professional life. It would mean everything to me if the film could at least have a fair chance at a life of its own.”
